SGTC Campuses Set to Celebrate Halloween
South Georgia Technical College students are invited to show off their best costumes, eat snacks and have fun for Halloween on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Both of the college’s campuses will observe the day and have unique opportunities in which students can participate.
On the Americus campus, students will have the opportunity to participate in a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest. Following the fun, the culinary arts department will be serving a free hotdog lunch to all attendees. The event will take place in the gym beginning at 11:30 a.m., when costume participants are asked to line up to be judged. Awards will be given to the first, second and third place participants, as well as to the program with the most participation.
Following the costume contest, trophies will be given to the winners of the pumpkin carving contest. The carving contest will pit programs against each other to see who can design and carve the best pumpkin. The entries will be judged on Oct. 30 and will be announced at the Halloween event on Oct. 31. In addition to a trophy, the winning program will win a pizza party. Each of the entries will be displayed in Hicks Hall.
Crisp County Center students are also invited and encouraged to dress up for a costume contest and other activities in the Cordele campus’ auditorium on Oct. 31. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and will feature Tune Trivia, a live DJ, snacks from Chef Little and the culinary arts department and a costume contest. First, second and third place winners of the costume contest will receive SGTC bookstore gift certificates of $50, $25 and $15, respectively.
The events on both campuses are sponsored by each campus’ Student Government Association (SGA) chapter.
