SGTC Practical Nursing Advisory Committee Meets
The South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Practical Nursing advisory committee met recently in McLain Hall on the SGTC Campus. The purpose of the advisory committee is to aid SGTC faculty and staff in their efforts to continually improve the Practical Nursing program.
SGTC Practical Nursing instructor Jennifer Childs provided the committee with updates and information about program changes, enrollment, community activities, and student news.
The advisory committee members provide information to SGTC faculty and staff about suggested improvements in curriculum, new training opportunities that are available in the field of practical nursing, new technology, employment/internship opportunities available for students, and salary levels students may anticipate upon graduation.
Advisory committee members present were: Debra Webb, RN, Assistant Director of Nursing at Lillian Carter Health & Rehabilitation in Plains; Tammi Johnston of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center; Juanita Wells and Kristi Hasty of Flint River Hospital in Montezuma; Susie Fussell of Magnolia Manor; and Shelley Gore, Trina Murray, Chance McGough, and Debra Mims of Ethica.
Also in attendance representing SGTC were Academic Dean Dr. David Finley, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, and Practical Nursing instructor Christine Rundle.
The advisory committee is a crucial link that provides an avenue for South Georgia Tech instructors to learn about changing conditions or technology in the workplace that can then be passed along to students enabling them to be fully prepared upon graduation.
