SGTC Graduate Helps Spread the Word About South Georgia Technical College

Spencer McDowell of Plains, a graduate from the South Georgia Technical College Air Conditioning Technology program, stopped by the SGTC campus recently to share his story with SGTC Career Services Director Cynthia Carter.

McDowell completed the program in 2023 under Johnny Griffin, SGTC’s air conditioning technology instructor. Like many SGTC students, he found full-time employment in his career field even before he finished the program: five months before he graduated, McDowell was hired by Albany Heating & Air, where he works as a commercial installer and start-up. He told Carter he is always recruiting for SGTC, encouraging his friends to enroll in the air conditioning program.

The opportunities are tremendous in the industry according to Griffin. Graduates from his program are employed by commercial and residential heating and air conditioning companies, school systems, and manufacturers.
