SGTC Announces Internal Screening Committee for 2025 GOAL Competition
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) has announced the internal screening committee for the college’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) competition, according to Josh Curtin, Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and GOAL coordinator. The committee will interview and evaluate nominated students to select four finalists who will represent SGTC in the regional GOAL competition.
This year’s screening committee members include Peiare Adderly, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs; Michelle McGowan, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs; Sandhya Muljibhai, WIOA Coordinator; Tylen Pepito, Admissions Counselor/Recruiter; and Jennifer Robinson, Special Populations Coordinator.
To be considered for the GOAL award, students must first be nominated by their instructors. The screening committee will review each nominee’s grades, attendance, character, leadership potential, personal goals, and enthusiasm for technical education. The four students chosen by this committee will advance to the next stage, where they will be interviewed by a selection committee made up of local business and industry leaders.
The selection committee will then choose one student to represent SGTC in the regional competition, where they will compete against other students from the Southern region. The finalist from that competition will advance to the statewide GOAL conference.
At the statewide conference, nine finalists (three from each region) will compete for the title of Georgia’s 2025 GOAL winner. The state GOAL winner will also receive a new automobile, provided by KIA Motors, the program’s corporate sponsor.
The finalists and SGTC’s GOAL representative for 2025 will be announced soon.
