SGTC Computer Information Systems Program Holds Fall Advisory Meeting
The advisory committee for South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Computer Information Systems (CIS) program recently convened in the Odom Center on the Americus campus. The committee plays a key role in supporting continuous quality improvement of the CIS program, providing valuable feedback and industry insights to SGTC faculty and staff.
Veronda Cladd, CIS instructor at SGTC, led the meeting by presenting updates on program changes, enrollment trends, community activities, and student achievements. Committee members shared their perspectives on the latest industry developments, suggesting enhancements to the curriculum and offering guidance on emerging technologies. The discussion also included employment opportunities, internships for students, and expected salary levels for program graduates.
The advisory committee serves as a vital bridge between the college and the industry, helping instructors stay current with evolving workplace technology and trends, ultimately preparing students for successful careers in the field.
Attendees included Mike Wilson, Director of Technology at Schley County Schools; Chris Saunders, Network Engineer at NEOS Technologies; William Patterson, Network Engineer at Phoebe Putney Health System; Nelson McCrary, Tech Support Manager at Barnett Computers; and Jessica Miller, Director of Technology at Marion County Schools. Katrice Martin, SGTC’s Grant Coordinator and Director of Institutional Effectiveness, also participated in the meeting.
