Lady Jets Champions cheer on Americus-Sumter Lady Panthers Champions
Americus, GA – The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association championship Lady Jets took part in wishing the Americus-Sumter High School Lady Panthers good luck in their quest for a women’s state basketball championship recently. Both championship teams have the opportunity to bring recognition to women’s basketball in Americus and Sumter County.
The Lady Jets invited the Lady Panthers to attend their last regular season basketball game and took pictures with the Lady Panthers after the Lady Jets rolled to a victory and secured the 2015 – 2016 GCAA championship title.
Then the Lady Jets waited on South Georgia Tech Parkway Friday afternoon to wave and cheer on the Lady Panthers and their fans as they traveled to Fort Valley for their semi-final game. The Lady Panthers and the Lady Jets both exchanged best wishes. The Lady Jets are participating in the NJCAA Region XVII semi-final tournament game at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the Lady Panthers are in the semi-final round of the state playoffs Friday at 3 p.m. in Fort Valley.
“This is awesome,” said South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets head coach James Frey, after he watched the exchange between the two championship bound teams. “This is a tremendous day for Americus and Sumter County and I am so very proud of the Americus-Sumter Lady Panthers and what they have accomplished this season. I am also proud of the Lady Jets and I hope that we have the opportunity to celebrate our victories together.”
