SGTC hosts job fair for Lexington Pontoon Boats
South Georgia Technical College hosted a job fair for Sumter County’s newest marine manufacturer, Lexington Pontoon Boats, in the John M. Pope Center on the college’s Americus campus recently. Over 50 applicants attended the event.
The company interviewed attendees in hopes of filling some of its 80 available positions. Lexington listed positions available in: pontoon assembly, welding, lamination, marine engines, maintenance, fiberglass and upholstery. Additionally, the company listed positions that require soft skills such as I.T. and graphic design, marketing, human resources, purchasing and customer service.
Lexington official Sam Wallace conducted on-site interviews at the job fair and said that she was very pleased with the attendees that she spoke with.
“You have you keep in mind that we [Lexington Pontoons] are a brand new company, so we will be hiring everyone in the boat production process,” Wallace said. “I spoke with a lot of people today that have had a lot of prior experience in the industry, and I feel really good about how the job fair went.”
Lexington Pontoons has relocated from Leland, NC to Americus where it will produce boats in the J. Frank Myers Industrial Park. The company features a line of boats from 15 feet to 27 feet in various styles.
