Advisory Committee Meets for SGTC Accounting and Business Technology Programs in Crisp County
South Georgia Technical College recently held an advisory meeting for its Accounting and Business Technology programs on SGTC’s Crisp campus in the boardroom.
The Accounting and Business Technology advisory committee members met with Business Technology instructors Teresa Jolly and Nicole Turner and Accounting instructor Tammy Hamilton. The members reviewed all aspects of the program to ensure it is up-to-date with the latest trends and changes in the accounting and business administrative technology industries.
The purpose of the advisory committee meetings is to provide expert support for the programs the committee represents. The meetings promote interaction between the programs and businesses and industries served by the program. The faculty uses the advisory committee’s expertise to improve the programs’ content and operation.
As committee members, individuals may serve as guest speakers in class, help arrange field trips for the program, assist with recruitment, provide on-the-job training for students, provide assistance with job placement for the students, and provide other services as the committee sees fit.
Members of the committee present at the advisory meeting were Becky Fitzgibbons of Crisp County Power, Sarah Howell of Crisp County Power, Mark Lewis of TCSG, Tish Sneed of Planters First Bank, Tim Powers of Crisp Regional Hospital, and Vickie Teemer of Crisp Regional Hospital. In addition, Michelle McGowan, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator, and Kylee Little of Cordele-Crisp County Industrial Development Council were present at the advisory meeting.
