SGTC Lady Jets Camille Coleman named GCAA Co-Player of Week
South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets sophomore transfer guard, Camille Coleman was selected as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Division I women’s basketball co-player of the week for the first week in January. This is the fourth time in eight weeks that a South Georgia Technical College player has been selected for this honor.
Coleman, who is from South Bend, Indiana, averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the Lady Jets win over Central Georgia Tech. Sada’ Jacobs of Central Georgia Tech was selected as the other co-player of the week. Jacobs averaged 24 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in two games during the same week.
This is the fourth time this season that a Lady Jet has been selected for this honor. Sophomore La’Deja James from Virginia Beach, VA, has been selected three times.
“This is a tremendous honor for Camille Coleman and for South Georgia Tech,” said Lady Jets head coach James Frey. “Camille did an excellent job against Central Georgia Tech and she was a major part in helping us get that conference victory. She has been an asset to us and performed well this season. We have set our goals this season and for us to realize those goals – win the conference, win the district tournament, win the play-in tournament game and advance to the National Tournament, we have got to have consistent play from our leaders.”
The Lady Jets are currently 4 – 0 in the conference and 16 – 3 overall this season. They will host Albany Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18th and then Chattahoochee Tech at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 21st. They will then have four road games before returning home on February 11th to host Georgia Highlands College.
