SGTC Lady Jets La’Deja James named GCAA Player of Week for 4th time
South Georgia Technical College returning sophomore guard, La’Deja James, set a new record this week for the Lady Jets basketball team when she was selected as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Division I women’s basketball player of the week for the fourth time this season.
This is the first time that a Lady Jet has received the nomination four times in a single season. This is also the fifth time in nine weeks that a South Georgia Tech player has been selected for this honor. Camille Coleman, a sophomore guard from Indiana, is the other Lady Jet who has been nominated for this honor.
James, who is from Virginia Beach, VA, averaged 22 points in two games this past week. She also averaged 7.5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5.5 steals in the Lady Jets wins over Georgia Highlands and Albany Tech.
“La’Deja has the tools to be as good as she wants to be,” said South Georgia Technical College Athletic Director and Lady Jets head coach James Frey. “She has really stepped up her game and is working extremely hard to help us reach our teams goals this season.”
The Lady Jets are in first place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association with a 6 – 0 record and they are 18 – 3 overall. Georgia Highlands is ranked second in the conference with a 4 – 1 and 9 – 12 record. Central Georgia Tech is in third place with a 3 – 1 and 11 – 9 overall record.
South Georgia Tech will host Georgia Highlands on Saturday, February 11th. The Lady Jets will open up at 1 p.m. and the men will follow at 3 p.m.
