Kierra Sparks is named SGTC Financial Aid Specialist
Kierra Sparks of Montezuma has been named Financial Aid Specialist at South Georgia Technical College, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford recently. As Financial Aid Specialist, Sparks will report to SGTC Financial Aid Director Carrie Wilder and Vice President for Administrative Services Lea Coe.
Sparks was promoted to the position after serving as Student Affairs Assistant at SGTC for nearly two years. In her new role, she will provide financial aid assistance to prospective and enrolled students, coordinate and maintain active and inactive financial aid program records and reports, provide guidance to students regarding vocational and financial aid opportunities, and other duties within the Financial Aid office on SGTC’s Americus campus.
She earned her B.S. in Political Science with a minor in History from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
“Kierra has done a great job in Student Affairs, and we know she brings a lot to the table in her new position in the Financial Aid department,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “She’s an asset to the college and our students are in good hands.”
Prior to employment at SGTC, Sparks was an Intern at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains. She was also a STORM Spotter for Georgia Southwestern State University, where she advised incoming college freshmen on registration for the upcoming semester. She was also a Shift Leader at Zaxby’s in Americus.
