Lea Coe named Vice President of Administrative Services at South Georgia Tech
Lea Coe has been named Vice President of Administrative Services at South Georgia Technical College, effective immediately, announced President Dr. John Watford. Coe has been serving as the Assistant Vice President of Administrative Services at SGTC for the past 13 months. She will report to President Watford. “Lea Coe has been an integral part of South Georgia Technical College for the past nine years and we are very pleased about this new opportunity for Lea as well as for the college,” said President Watford. “Administrative Services is vital to the success of the college and Lea has proven her value to the college during her tenure as our Accounting Director and then as the Assistant Vice President for Administrative Services. She has done an excellent job in her previous positions and I look forward to working with her in this new role.” Coe is replacing Janice Davis, who retired as the Vice President of Administrative Services after 26 years with South Georgia Technical College. “I am honored to have been selected for this position,” said Coe. “South Georgia Technical College is a great organization and one that I am proud to have been associated with for the past nine years. I look forward to this new challenge and also to working with all of the other divisions of South Georgia Technical College in this new role. I thank Dr. Watford for this opportunity.” As the Vice President for Administrative Services, Coe will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall administration of the college’s financial and student financial operations. Her primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: responsible for all aspects of and management of a comprehensive accounting program for the college including accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgets, general ledger, fixed assets/inventories, payrolls, reporting, purchasing, cash flow analysis and other related accounting functions of the business office in a timely manner; and integration of GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, statutory accounting requirements and departmental fiscal policies and procedures as well as analyzing financial statistics and other accounting reports. She will also be responsible for, manage, and supervise the human resources, financial aid, bookstore, grants, and other functions within the Administrative Services department. Coe joined the South Georgia Technical College staff in 2007 as the Accounting Director. She supervised accounts receivable, collection of past due accounts, individual contact with students with specific billing issues, general ledger accounting, assisted with preparation of year-end financial reports, cash management and bank reconciliation, and supervised asset management. She was promoted to the Assistant Vice President of Administrative Services in May of 2015 and served in that capacity until her recent promotion. Coe has over 26 years of progressive, comprehensive experience as an accounting professional. She was the Accounting Supervisor for Sumter Electric Membership Corporation in Americus for two years prior to joining South Georgia Tech. She also worked as a Staff Accountant I/II at SEMCO from 1990 – 2005. She has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus and an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton. She is currently pursuing her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials. She and her husband, John, reside at Lake Blackshear
