Patrick Owen joins South Georgia Tech as Industrial Systems Instructor
Patrick Owen of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College as its new Industrial Systems Instructor, announced South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. He will report to SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers.
Owen is a graduate of the South Georgia Technical College Industrial Electrical Technology program. He also has an Associate Degree in Forestry from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Albany State University.
He has been employed with Electric-Tek as an Electrical Sub-Contractor for the past four years and was responsible for placing bids, designing layouts, preparing estimates, delegating responsibilities, ordering materials, training and supervising employees and completing installations for residential and commercial projects.
He also worked as an electrician for Wright Electric and as a Low Voltage Electrical Head – Contract with Philmon Electric and Alarms. He has over 13 years of electrical experience as well as three years of experience in retail and machine repair.
As the SGTC Industrial Systems Instructor, Owen will be responsible for instructing students in the Industrial Systems program as well as evaluating student performance, progress, procedural competences. He is also required to stay current in subject matter through professional development/training and plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning.
Owen was hired to replace retired instructor Phil Deese in the Industrial Systems program.
