SGTC Adult Education Advisory Committee Meets to Review Program Progress

The South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Adult Education advisory committee met recently in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus to discuss program updates, student success, and community engagement.
Tracy Israel, SGTC Dean of Adult Education, along with program instructors, shared information about enrollment trends, curriculum developments, community outreach efforts, and student accomplishments. The meeting also highlighted the achievements of SGTC’s 2024 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) nominee Ilana Harper and Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Office of Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year nominee Margie Martin. Both spoke to the committee about their experiences representing the college at the state level.
The advisory committee, composed of representatives from various community organizations, plays a vital role in guiding the continuous improvement of the Adult Education program. By offering insights into workplace expectations and evolving trends, the committee helps ensure that SGTC graduates are well-prepared for success.
SGTC’s Adult Education program offers pathways for individuals seeking their high school equivalency, opening doors to better employment and further educational opportunities. Many graduates go on to enroll in SGTC’s college-level programs.
