SGTC Automotive Technology Advisory Committee Conducts Spring Meeting

The Automotive Technology advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently met in the Morgan Transportation Building on the Americus campus to review program advancements and industry trends. The committee plays a vital role in ensuring continuous improvement within SGTC’s Automotive Technology program.
Instructors Brandon Dean and Carey Mahone provided updates on curriculum developments, student enrollment, community partnerships, and notable student accomplishments.
Advisory committee members contributed valuable insights on enhancing coursework, expanding industry-specific training, integrating new automotive technologies, and identifying employment or internship opportunities for students. Additionally, they discussed salary expectations for graduates entering the workforce.
Attendees included Ron Peacock, Henry L. Snipes from Lacy’s Paint and Body; and John Beaver from Beaver Performance Racing. SGTC faculty members Starlyn Sampson (Auto Collision Repair) and Kevin Beaver (Motorsports Vehicle Technology), adjunct automotive instructor Jacob Smith, Academic Dean Dr. David Finley, Career Services Director Cynthia Carter, Administrative Assistant for Academic Affairs Alecia Pinckney and WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai also attended.
SGTC’s Advisory committees are vital in helping instructors stay updated on workplace technologies and practices, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their careers upon graduation.
