South Georgia Technical College Career Services Director Cynthia Carter met with the 63rd Class of the SGTC Electrical Lineworker Certificate Program students to introduce them to effective resume writing—a powerful tool to get you noticed!

“Getting the attention of a potential employer is difficult in today’s competitive market,” said  Cynthia Carter, SGTC Director of Career Services.  “This workshop is focused on helping the students to make a good first impression, how to improve their resume, introduce different formats, and how to make the most of their work experiences.

“The summary of qualifications is to summarize their skill set and let the business & industry partners know they are qualified for a position by highlighting their relevant work experiences,” added Carter. “Your resume must be one that reflects your skills, knowledge and education that are relevant to the job you’re applying.”

Carter indicated, whether your resume is complete or you are just beginning your first draft, this workshop will help you to become aware of the important features of a resume, a condensed timeline of your experiences, as well step by step processes for creating an effective resume.
