The advisory committee for South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Computer Information Systems (CIS) program convened recently in the Odom Center on the SGTC campus. The committee plays a pivotal role in aiding SGTC faculty and staff in the ongoing improvement of the CIS program.

Veronda Cladd, SGTC CIS instructor, provided the committee with updates on program changes, enrollment statistics, community activities, and student achievements. In response, committee members offered valuable industry insights and suggested curriculum enhancements. They also shared information on emerging technologies, job and internship opportunities for students, and anticipated salary levels for graduates.

The advisory committee serves as a vital conduit, enabling South Georgia Tech instructors to stay abreast of evolving workplace technologies and conditions, which they then impart to students to ensure they are well-prepared for their careers post-graduation.

Attendees included William Patterson, Network Engineer at Phoebe Putney Health System, and Chris Saunders, Network Engineer at NEOS Technologies. Representing SGTC were Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grant Coordinator, and Alecia Pinckney, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

South Georgia Tech offers over 200 programs leading to associate degrees, diplomas, and short-term technical certificates. For more information, visit www.southgatech.edu. Registration for the fall semester is on July 23, with classes starting on August 15.
