SGTC Horticulture Students Attend Organic Agriculture Event
South Georgia Technical College horticulture instructor Brandon Gross and his students recently attended the Rodale Institute’s Southeast Organic Center Field Day. Students observed demonstrations of Rodale’s ongoing agricultural experiments.
The horticulture class also learned about sustainability and agribusiness from Rodale partner organizations including the UGA Extension Service, Conservation Fund, Three Magnolias Foundation, Blue Heron Urban Farm and Sanctuary, and others.
The Rodale Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to growing the regenerative organic agriculture movement through rigorous research, farmer training, and education. Their mission is to advance groundbreaking research and best-in-class education that enables farms and farmers to transition to regenerative organic agricultural practices, thereby improving the health of the world’s soil and securing the global food supply.
For SGTC’s horticulture students, opportunities such as these lead to a deeper knowledge of horticulture practices as well as a greater understanding of the diverse career opportunities in the industry.
