Students in the Horticulture program at South Georgia Technical College recently learned to disassemble and reassemble a common lawn mower engine as a lab experience in their small engine class. The class focuses on the function, repair and maintenance of small engines.

“Horticulture is not just pretty flowers,” instructor Brandon Gross said. “Proper maintenance of equipment and being able to make minor repairs can save thousands for businesses within the Horticulture industry.” Gross said knowledge of small engines is part of the foundational knowledge the Horticulture program provides graduates.

The class can also be taken alone by those interested in learning the basics of equipment maintenance.

South Georgia Technical College offers over 200 degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs. Learn more about all the programs SGTC offers at www.southgatech.edu, and apply now to enroll for fall semester. Classes begin August 15.
