The South Georgia Technical College Jets dropped their sixth consecutive game and dropped to 1 – 10 on the season after suffering a 70 – 63 loss to the Tallahassee State College Eagles Saturday in the James S. Peters gymnasium.  Tallahassee College moved to 12 – 3 overall.

“Missed layups and free throws,” said SGTC Jets head coach Chris Ballauer.  “We missed way too many layups and free throws and you can’t win games when you do that.  That has been a reoccurring theme so far this season.”

The Jets only hit 23 of 56 field goal attempts for a 41.1% success rate from the floor and were 14 of 26 from the foul line.  They attempted eight three-point shots and only made three.  The Jets also had 22 turnovers compared to Tallahassee’s 17.

The Jets got off to a slow start and were down by 10 points early in the game before tying the game at 28 – 29 with a little two minutes left on the clock in the first half.  SGTC score a three-pointer to go up 31 – 29 with 1:34 remaining in the half, but Tallahassee tied the game at 31 – 31 at the half.

The Eagles came back strong in the second half and dominated SGTC pulling ahead by as many as 15 points with a little over five minutes remaining.  The Jets begin pressuring the Eagles in the final two minutes and were able to cut their lead to six points, 60-66 with 1:07 left to play.  But Tallahassee went on to win 70 – 63.

Aiden Fitzgerald from Perth, Australia was the top scorer for the Jets with 15 points.  He hit all three of SGTC’s three-point shots and was three of four from behind the three-point line.  He was also two of three from the foul line and two of five from the field.

Jordan Dickson, a freshman guard from Toronto, Canada, and Daryl Bod, a sophomore guard from Paris, France, were the only other Jets in double digits.  They had 14 and 12 points respectively.  Dwight Brown added nine points, Hendrens Bartelus had six, and Darius Willis, Zhian Briggs, and Vaughn Prosser had two each. Matija Vucic closed out the scoring with one point.

Earlier in the week, the Jets dropped a 78 – 44 decision to Chipola.  Not a single Jet scored in double-digits.  Hendrens Bartelus and Matt Mbole led the team in scoring with eight points each.  The Jets get a break over the Christmas Holidays but will travel tp Panama City, FL on December 30 and 31 for the Gulf Coast Classic where they will face Gulf Coast Community College at 6 p.m. CST on December 30 and Northwest Florida State at 6 p.m. CST on December 31.  They will return home to host Chipola College on January 4th in the Hangar at 3 p.m. before starting conference play.
