SGTC Orientation Team attends FVSU Open House
Fort Valley, GA – The South Georgia Technical College Orientation Team attended the Fort Valley State (FVSU) Open House in Fort Valley recently to observe FVSU Ambassadors in action as they welcomed prospective students to the campus.
“Our South Georgia Technical College students were excited to have the opportunity to participate in this type of learning experience,” said SGTC O’Team Coordinator Deo Cochran. “This was very valuable for the new members to see another O’Team or group of ambassadors in action and also to gather new ideas to enhance our program. We currently have seven new members and welcome other who are interested in joining the team and working with our Co-Coordinators, Nikki Thompson and Kierra Sparks.”
The O’Team member is a successful candidate who has demonstrated as an orientation leader their ability to work independently and collaboratively, exhibit strong problem solving skills, exercise good judgment and personal integrity, demonstrate an excellent work ethic, and have the ability to direct the work of peers.
The goals of the SGTC Orientation team is to assist new students, their parents, and family members with their transition to the College; to assist new students in learning about the academic program, policies, and faculty expectations of students; to assist new students in learning about various services and resources on campus; to assist new students, their parents, and family members in learning about the various aspects of campus life including, traditions, campus activities, and support services; and to assist new students in meeting SGTC administrators, faculty, and students.
