SGTC’s Carter appointed to serve on SkillsUSA National Education Team
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Director of Career Services Cynthia Carter was recently appointed by SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary Executive Director Lynn Tanner to serve on the SkillsUSA National Education Team (NET) in March 2017. Last month, Dave Worden, Program Director at SkillsUSA Championships in Leesburg, Virginia accepted the endorsements. The purpose of the National Education Team is to assist the national technical committee in conducting and managing the SkillsUSA Championships and communicate industry expectations for the quality of instruction and professional development in occupational areas represented in the SkillsUSA Championships to advisors. Cynthia worked with the NET Technical Chair for Prepared Speech and served as a professional member judge at the SkillsUSA NLSC in Louisville Kentucky in June. NET members are appointed to three-year terms and are eligible to re-apply for membership at the end of each term. Attendance at SkillsUSA’s National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) is mandatory and NET members must work with the designated contest or conference committee. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical training, and professional skills training.
