The South Georgia Technical College’s Americus chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) recently brought home seven awards from the Fall Leadership Conference in Atlanta, which was hosted by the Georgia PBL.

SGTC’s PBL chapter won three first place awards (March of Dimes Challenge, Chapter Preparation, Recruitment Display) one second place award (Recruitment Video), two fourth place awards (Advertising Contest, iPhoto Competition) and was recognized for having the largest local chapter.

The organization was also featured in the Fall 2017 edition of the Georgia PBL newsletter, which highlighted the chapter’s efforts to raise over $500 during their recent March of Dimes fundraiser.

SGTC’s PBL chapter is in the middle of their annual Fall PBL Week – a week in which the organization encourages members of the South Georgia Tech student body to participate in different events. On Monday, Nov. 13, PBL will show their support for Prematurity Awareness by wearing purple and meeting for a short program by the Odom Center flagpoles. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, participants are asked to “Dress 4 Success” by dressing in career attire for their field and meeting for a picture at the Odom Center flagpole. On Wednesday, Nov. 15, participants are asked to join in the Pope Center for “American Enterprise Day” where they will hear Ms. Jessica Wright of Innovative Senior Solutions share entrepreneurial concepts.

PBL and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) are the largest business career student organizations in the world. The FBLA high school division has 215,000 members while the post-secondary division reaches over 11,000 college students. Phi Beta Lambda allows students to build a portfolio of documented accomplishments as a complement to their academic experience. The organization helps develop leadership, communication, and team skills that can be applied in the business setting.
