South Georgia Technical College’s Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program has been ranked as the 24th Most Affordable CNA program in the nation for 2018 – 2019 by MedicalFieldCareers.com recently. Ten of the 35 programs highlighted were from Georgia and were a part of the Technical College System of Georgia.
Other states listed with affordable CNA programs included Utah, Ohio, Kansas, Arizona, Tennessee, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Iowa, Washington, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas. Davis Technical College in Kaysville, UT was credited with the Most Affordable CNA program in the nation.
“Nurse assisting is one of the most popular entry level fields in healthcare and MedicalFieldCareers.com felt that it was important to recognize the programs from around the country that provide the greatest value to students,” said Matt Bromley, MedicalFieldCareers.com, owner and webmaster.
“Our rankings for the Top 35 Affordable CNA programs achieve this by focusing on not only tuition costs and other measures of affordability, but by factoring in criterion such as student-to-faculty ratio, accreditations, number of courses available, to name a few. This methodology allowed us to identify 35 highly-affordable programs that compare favorably with any CNA training course in the country.”
South Georgia Technical College’s Nurse Aid program prepares students with classroom training and practice as well as the clinical experience necessary to care for patients in various settings including general medical and surgical hospitals, nursing care facilities, community care facilities for the elderly, and home health care services. Students who successfully complete the Nurse Aid Technical Certificate of Credit may be eligible to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment program (NNAAP) which determines competency to become enrolled in the State nurse aid registry.
The SGTC Nurse Aide program is 13 hours long. Students enroll in the Introduction to Health Care, Diet and Nutrition for Allied Health Sciences, Med Term/Allied Health Sciences, and the Nurse Aide Fundamentals course. Students can complete in one or two terms.
The other technical colleges in Georgia that were included by MedicalFieldCareers.com as being in the top 35 affordable CNA programs included: Coastal Pines Technical College in Waycross, Southern Regional Technical College in Thomasville, Wiregrass Technical College in Valdosta, Savannah Technical College in Savannah, Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia, Oconee Fall Line Technical College in Sandersville, Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Columbus Technical College in Columbus, and Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin.
