South Georgia Tech Cosmetology students enjoy “Color Made Easy” program

Jennifer Bowens of Miss J’s Salon and Hair Loss Clinic in Fort Valley was the special guest speaker at the South Georgia Technical College’s Cosmetology “Color Made Easy” program for first and third semester students.
Bowens, who is also the CEO of her own hair growth oil named “Miss J’s Growth Oil,” specializes in healthy hair and hair loss solutions including customer color techniques, silk presses, loc maintenance, non-surgical hair replacement and curl definition. The purpose of the “Color Made Easy” program was to educate SGTC Cosmetology students on color, color placement, and formulations along with product information on growth oil.
“We appreciate Jennifer visiting our college and for putting together this presentation for the cosmetology students,” said SGTC Cosmetology Instructor Dorothea Lusane McKenzie. “She was able to talk with students about the hair industry and how it has evolved since she was in school. Having professionals come in and talk with our students gives them a good perspective about the industry and helps prepare them for a great career.”
One of the things that Jennifer Bowens stressed to the students was the importance of continuing their education. “Keep educating yourself even after you graduate. The industry is always evolving,” said Bowens who will be teaching at the IEducateDoU Beauty Expo in Atlanta, GA on November 11th and 12th.
South Georgia Technical College’s Cosmetology program was recently recognized as the fourth best cosmetology and beauty school program in the United States for 2018 – 2019 by EDsmart, a nationally recognized publisher of college resources and rankings. This is the third year in a row that the South Georgia Tech cosmetology program has been recognized as a top performing program.
