South Georgia Technical College to have on-site registration team in Marion County on Wednesday, March 14th

BUENA VISTA, GA – It is not too late to sign up for college classes in Marion County. South Georgia Technical College and Marion County School System employees, and community leaders have scheduled a college registration session in Buena Vista for Wednesday, March 14th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Marion County Performing Arts Center (Old Middle School location in Buena Vista) at 100 Burkhalter Avenue.
Prospective students have the opportunity to sign up for C-term classes and complete a full-semester of work in just eight short weeks. Marion County and South Georgia Technical College officials are working together to provide greater access to college courses and workforce development options to the citizens of Marion County and surrounding counties. The South Georgia Technical College registration team will be at the registration site to help students with the admissions and financial aid processes. The $25 application fee will be waived for individuals who apply for Spring Semester C-term classes on March 14th. Classes will start in Buena Vista the week of March 19th.
Potential students can choose to register for the over 200 associate degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit classes that are offered on the Americus campus or sign up for the two classes that will be offered in Marion County this spring at the Burkhalter location.
The Marion County School System has agreed to provide classroom space in the old middle school building at 100 Burkhalter Avenue in Buena Vista for South Georgia Technical College to offer classes to the community. South Georgia Technical College has committed to provide the instructors and also send a registration team to the community to help individuals apply, enroll, and fill out financial aid forms to begin their journey for careers of a lifetime.

Financial aid options are available including the HOPE Grant, HOPE Scholarship and PELL grant. Hope Career Grants offer up to an extra $1000 to HOPE grant eligible students in the programs of study including: Commercial Truck Driving, Diesel Equipment Technology, Early Childhood Care/Education, Electronics Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Networking Specialist, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy Technician, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Electrical Lineworker, Practical Nursing, and Welding and Joining Technology and more. SGTC also offers textbooks at no cost to students.
