Thomas Mayo of Richland named SGTC Crisp County Center Welding Instructor
Thomas Mayo of Richland was named as the new full-time Welding Instructor for the South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center effective immediately, announced South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford.
He is replacing Brad Aldridge who has moved to the Americus campus as a full-time instructor to work with Americus welding Instructor Ted Eschmann. Mayo will report to SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Julie Partain and Michelle McGowan, SGTC Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Crisp County Center.
Mayo served as an adjunct welding instructor at South Georgia Technical College on both the Americus and the Crisp County Center. He also has over 30 years of full-time welding and machining experience. He worked as a Machinist/Welder at Gentry Machine Works, Inc. in Columbus, GA prior to joining South Georgia Technical College as a full-time instructor. He also worked for Perfect Patterns South and Columbus Foundry in Columbus as well as Henry Contracting in Albany Georgia. He was also a Machinist/Welder for Sodexo-Proctor & Gamble in Albany, GA.
Mayo graduated from the South Georgia Technical College Welding and Joining Technology Program in Americus and received his Advanced Welding certification. He also has a double-major from SGTC. He is a graduate of the Machine Tool Technology program as well where he earned his CNC Specialist/Advanced Machine Tool certifications. He is also a graduate of Stewart-Quitman High School.
In his capacity as the full-time welding instructor at the SGTC Crisp County Center, Mayo will be responsible for teaching welding and evaluating student performance, progress, and procedural competencies for his students.
