Yanez-Virgen named Accounting Technician at South Georgia Tech
Iliana Yanez-Virgen of Americus has been hired as an Accounting Technician for the South Georgia Technical College Americus campus, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford recently. She will report to Vice President of Administrative Services Lea Coe.
Yanez-Virgen worked for Citizens Bank of Americus as an Accounting Clerk for the past three years. She is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University with a BBA in Accounting and a graduate of Schley County High School.
As an Accounting Technician at South Georgia Tech, Yanez-Virgen will be responsible for performing various paraprofessional accounting duties in the support of financial accounting processes. She will review a wide range of source documents, such as purchase orders, vouchers, invoices, receipts, requisitions, travel documents and other forms for accuracy and completeness, assign standard pre-established accounting codes and other identifying information, process various accounts payable, contact vendors to resolve questions, maintain outstanding checks and create documentation for stop payments, prepare and verify accounts payable vouchers and enter data into Peoplesoft and submit checks to vendors. Other duties will include: assisting with daily deposits, cashier functions, and entering routine financial transactions into account systems and processing requisitions in addition to other duties as assigned.
She is married to Carlos Virgen and they reside in Americus.
